What the label tells you

In the EU, drinks with more than 150 mg of caffeine per litre must say "High caffeine content. Not recommended for children or pregnant or breast-feeding women" and state the amount per 100 ml (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011). Most colas have about 100 mg per litre, below that level, so the caffeine may not be on the can. The ingredients list will still name caffeine if it is added.

Cola and your daily caffeine

EFSA considers up to 400 mg of caffeine a day from all sources safe for healthy adults, and up to 200 mg a day for pregnant and breastfeeding women. For children, EFSA uses 3 mg per kg of body weight per day as a reference (EFSA, 2015). For a child weighing 30 kg that is 90 mg, about two and a half 355 ml servings of cola.
